The Mission of Shadow's Edge

What is the purpose of the guild?: Shadow's Edge is a new guild that is currently recruiting players of all skill levels, gaming experiences, and available time commitments! As a causal and universal guild, fairly regular activity and civil behavior are the only two requirements of joining.

What is the guild's mission?: Once the guild gets up and running, Shadow's Edge will be having diverse and varied weekly focuses designed to help its members further their gaming ambitions in numerous games. With Shadow's Edge, you should never feel like the activities have you in a rut - you should always feel like your doing something fun, fresh, and varied all the time.

What are the guild's goals?: The goals vary from game to game:
Champions Online: Now that we have an official Supergroup created, we trying to help our members play CO how they want to play CO.
Guild Wars: To help our members obtain 30 Hall of Monuments (HOM) points via quick, cost-effective, and fun methods.
Guild Wars 2: To become a world-renown PVE guild dedicated to helping its members accomplish anything they want to do. Be it dungeons or massive dynamic events or title seeking, the goal is for Shadow's Edge to be one of the leading guilds known for helpful and skillful (through practice) members. In addition, the guild will have set PVP Cells composed of five players so that teamwork is heavily emphasized and friendship is valued.
The Old Republic: To become an outstanding guild known for its dedication in assisting members with questing, missions, and flashpoints. Later on, the goal is to expand this vision to include PVP as well, once the guild becomes experienced in such matters.
DC Universe Online: At this point, our players are mostly Guild Wars players, so we're just trying to get up and running in DCUO at the moment.
Infinite Aion, Allods Online, City of Heroes/Villains, Perfect World, The Lord of the Rings Online: As Shadow's Edge is still new in these games, the goal as of now is to experience the game some more and establish a core group of players that can assist other Shadow's Edge members in playing the game.
World of Warcraft: To find a dedicated and quality free private server so that guild members can enjoy playing the game without having to pay a subscription fee.
Minecraft: To establish a dedicated and free guild server and provide an open and grief-free environment for members to enjoy the game.

Do I have to join Shadow's Edge in all of the games it participates in?: Absolutely not! You're more than welcome to join us for some games and be otherwise involved in other games. For example, if you are part of a fantastic Supergroup in Champions Online and you enjoy all of the people there and thus do not want to leave, you're more than welcome to join us for The Old Republic and Champions Online if you'd like. Or you can just join us for one game - it's all up to you. If you want to join us in all our games, that's awesome - but if you'd rather pick and choose, that's also awesome!

Is there a method to the madness?: How this will work is that from Monday through Wednesday, members will get to vote on what game and what focus they want to have for the weekend (such as Champions Online PVP, or Guild Wars PVE), and then on Thursday, members will again vote to decide what specific tasks they want to do (such as Guild Wars PVP Alliance Battles or Guild Wars PVE Protector Title). Then, from Friday to Sunday, Shadow's Edge will set up events where the guild can work together according to how the members voted. With over 13 games currently supported by Shadow's Edge (admittedly, some are more supported than others), this allows for a dynamic and unique gaming experience catered directly to the players.

But what about the weekdays?: During weekdays, while there will be less official structure, activity is still greatly encouraged, as more informal PVP and PVE sessions will be conducted (depending on RL situations and time-allowances).

How is social activity encouraged?: Shadow's Edge has a TeamSpeak 3 server (with a chat room for every game supported by the guild) routed through a Hamachi server, so members are highly encouraged to download Hamachi and TS3 in order to have the best social experience possible. In addition, the TS3 server allows members logging in to see what other members are playing, so they can than make the decision of what to play based on what everyone else is doing (if they want - or they could play a totally different game; whatever floats their boats). Moreover, Shadow's Edge has a forum site, which can be accessed here: "https://shadows-edge.forumotion.com/".

How can I get involved?: In addition to recruiting regular members, Shadow's Edge is also looking to recruit a Raid Chair and a PVP Chair - the Officers elected to these positions would essentially help organize and conduct their respective gametypes. For both of these positions, a applicant must have leadership qualities in addition to general experience with the gametype relating to the Chair being applied to. Moreover, if, for example, the PVP Chair feels very confident about leading PVP activities in The Old Republic and Champions Online but is uncertain about doing so in Guild Wars 2, then he/she may delegate the duty of Guild Wars 2 PVP to a Sub-Chair whom the PVP Chair appoints.

What positions are available again?: Currently, both the PVP Chair and the Raid Chair are empty, so they can be actively applied for.

What if I have any concerns or complaints?: A third Chair, the Internal Relations (IR) Chair, is currently held by Qyark. This Chair handles intra-guild relations, so he takes care of complaints, concerns, and suggestions. Moreover, the IR Chair serves as a mediator for the guild, so if a member or an Officer has a problem with someone else (be it another member, Officer, or even the Guild Leader), then that person can speak to the IR Chair about the problem. If the IR Chair is unable to come to a successful conclusion, then the matter can be brought to the attention and final jurisdiction of the Guild Leader. However, if someone has a problem with the IR Chair, then that person can go directly to the Guild Leader for help and/or advice.

Anything else available?: Last but not least, several Officer positions are also open at the moment - in addition to maintaining an active presence in the guild and serving as a role model, Officers are granted Moderator powers and responsibilities on the forum. Unlike Chair positions, Officer slots have no application process - if a member works hard, is regularly active, and is constantly civil and courteous to others, then he/she will be automatically considered for an Officer position.

Do founding members get any cool privilages?: Similar to this, members who join up during the guild's infant days and show tact and make good decisions will later be invited into the Core, which will serve as an advisory board. As with the Officers, there is no application for this - all founding members are considered for this board; admission is dependent on civil and helpful attitudes and behavior (which is purely intended to weed out trolls and conflict-provoking members, although I don't really see such people joining in the first place, as this board has mostly awesome people in it).
