That's the thing about Taris. While you are there you think "Oh god! Don't these rackghouls ever end?" and "Who do I pay to get out of here?"
By the time you are done with Alderaan you think "Actually, Taris was possibly the best planet."
The problem Taris has is that the game sends you to a planet with a unique environment and theme and then keeps you there bombarding you with it. Any sense of freedom, exploration and of a "galaxy" to explore are drained out of you. Which makes people completly overlook that thematically the planet is realised well and as environments go has had a lot of love and effort put into it.
But that is the way the game is set up: go to this planet until you are sick to your ears of this theme, then rince and repeat with the next planet and theme. And while many other theme-park MMOs do not actually do anything different, the fact that any sense of "open world" gets sabotaged by having to zone using a spaceship to get from one place to the other just breaks the illusion so much earlier in this game.
(yes, still waiting for Kieran to make his review site)
