Space Combat

I only tried a little bit of space combat during the beta weekend. I know there are many people disappointed with it, but I think their expectations were not realisitc. Space combat seems to be a fun little diversion from the main game. I guess people should not expect an x-wing or tie-fighter game but compare it to fishing in other mmos. (I always found fishing boring and could for the life of me not understand why people on my friend list would pay a monthly sub to stand in front of a virtual river and click the mouse once)
Now, unlike fishing, I kinda liked space combat.
So here are the questions:
Is there anything close to resembling multiplayer in that? (I expect a no answer...)
Are there any cool rewards to it?

You pretty much hit the nail on the head there. The space combat was never meant to provide a space-simulation's level of gameplay or depth thereof. Rather, it was designed to be a fun mini game that you can participate in on the side. As a kid, I loved StarFox 64, so I'm pretty excited about TOR space combat.

Although I haven't really done it, I know (from hanging around the official TOR forums) that you gain credits, experience, and loot in the form of space ship upgrades. So yeah, there are fairly nice rewards to participating in the space combat.

Unfortunately, there is no multiplayer aspect to space combat currently (also from what I've read on the official TOR forums), though who knows; maybe someday down the road they'll add co-op to it or something.

I gotta admit I'll be resisting yelling "do a barrel roll!" while flying!

You'll be ok as long as you stabilize your rear deflectors and watch for enemy figthers.
Just remember that the sith come from behind
